Who We Are

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) is planning a series of events as part of its new “Celebrating Natural Connections” project. The project is designed to celebrate and commemorate the natural spaces that became so important for physical and mental health during the pandemic.

The project consists of a series of events offered across the Upper Thames Watershed, designed to provide residents with an opportunity to explore local natural spaces with experienced environmental education staff. Each event will present a series of hikes, displays and presentations and hopes to involve participation from local artists, municipalities, hiking, naturalist and anglers clubs.

Each event will also include the installation of a lasting item such as a pollinator garden or bench at each location, to commemorate the contributions of local front line workers.  Emphasis for participation will be on community members that have been instrumental in helping others through the pandemic: front line workers and local health unit staff.
